Great piece Mr Bair. Wonderful writing (as always). For a long while I've shared these same thoughts without articulating them so thank you for that service to me at least. I loved this line "We just send them on vacation and hope they don’t get mugged". That's so true. We still lack in respect for the fallible human. How can we raise up without either taking advantage or simply abandoning people to unforgiving code? But I have hope. I still believe that enough of us in the Ethereum space at least, feel this and know we can't just become introverted, self-glorifying, tombola machine makers. DeFi may end up being a cul-de-sac. But if Etherians (to borrow Lane Rettig's phrase) stay true to building tools for human cooperation, we'll get to build homes for all in the end.
